  • October 1925 Giants took their 1st game in Franchise History. The 1st of their 6 NFL championships came in 1927. Since the Merger that have won two Super Bowl and they have combined to win 17 NFL Divisional Championships.
  • January 25, 1987 - Phil Simms comes as close to perfection as any quarterback in Super Bowl history, earning the Super Bowl XXI MVP in the Giants' 39-20 victory over the Denver Broncos. Simms set a record for completion percentage, going 22-for-25, along with 268 yards and three touchdowns. He also set a Super Bowl record for consecutive completions with 10.
  • January 6, 2002 - Michael Strahan breaks Mark Gastineau's 17-year-old record of 22 sacks in a season by recording his 22 sack after landing on Brett Favre during the Green Bay Packers' 34-25 win. Favre allegedly was attempting a bootleg but slipped, allowing Strahan an easy shot for the record-setting sack. Some Giant Hall Of Famers.

New York Giants

  • Aug 14th 1959 Charter franchise granted to New York Titans. April 15th 1963 New owners changed the name from Titans to Jets. 1964 Jets trade rights to Jerry Rhome to Houston in return for a number one draft choice. Using their pick gained from Houston, the Jets drafted Alabama QB Joe Namath.
  • Nov. 17th 1968 "Heidi" became a part of the nation's sporting vocabulary when the last 1:05 of key Jet-Oakland game was cut off the air by NBC to permit the children's special to begin on time. Raiders scored twice in last 42 seconds to win, 43-32. Dec. 29th 1968 Jets defeat Oakland 27-23 for their first AFL title. Following the Jets victory Joe Namath was sitting poolside in Miami prior to the 1969 Super Bowl and promising (actually guaranteed!) that New York Jets would defeat the Baltimore Colts--a promise he kept several days later to the shock of the sporting world, pounding out a 16-7 victory over the Baltimore Colts. Becoming the first AFL team to win the Super Bowl. Weeb Ewbank becomes first coach to win world titles in both leagues. Namath chosen Super Bowl MVP (Jan. 12).
  • January 12, 1969 - In the Super Bowl that gave AFL teams credibility, Joe Namath comes through on his guarantee for a Jets victory over the favored Baltimore Colts, as the Jets defeat the Colts 16-7 in Super Bowl III. Namath completes 17 of 26 passes for 208 yards in the victory.
  • December 3, 2003 - Curtis Martin becomes the first player in Jets history to rush for over 200 yards, racking up 203 on 30 carries in the Jets' 27-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Martin breaks Adrian Murrell's record of 199 that was set in 1996.
