Introducing Las Vegas, NV

The words Las Vegas mean "The Meadows." There was little development of the area until 1902 when the area was sold to the local railroad companies, then eventually taken over by Union Pacific Railroad. On May 15, 1905 what is referred to as the downtown area was split in to 1200 lots and sold in a single day. May 15 is now considered Las Vegas's Birthday.

The night moves in with an average temperature of 66.3 F (19 C), in the summer months, this allows everyone to enjoy the bright lights and vast free shows on the strip.
